MEDICAL DERMOPIGMENTATION OF THE FACE
Eyebrows and mouth better drawn, eyes highlighted… this medical aesthetic technique, practiced under local anesthesia by injection, as it is the case in the office of Doctor HAVET, allows to sublimate certain features of the face, with subtlety, thanks to the use of semi-permanent pigments and without any pain
WHAT IS FACIAL DERMOPIGMENTATION?
Like all the techniques offered at Dr. HAVET’s office, facial dermopigmentation is a non-invasive aesthetic medicine technique that aims to beautify and enhance you in an elegant way.
Known as “medical tattooing”, or permanent or semi-permanent makeup, this technique consists of placing pigments under the skin to correct or beautify certain areas of the face, namely the eyes, eyebrows and mouth.
But be careful! Facial dermopigmentation must be performed by a specifically trained professional with a well-developed artistic sense who knows his or her craft and the pigments. Many apprentice dermographers pride themselves on mastering this technique with the many failures that this can cause: pigments that turn, drawing and shape of eyebrows failed, lip contour too dark and vulgar…
The technique is performed with an electrical device called a “dermograph”, similar to the one used by tattoo artists, but specifically adapted to this technique. Thanks to micro-needles, this tool will penetrate the superficial layer of the skin to deposit the pigment. And thanks to the local anesthesia it is painless!
WHAT AREAS ARE TREATED WITH DERMOPIGMENTATION?
The two main areas to be worked on with dermopigmentation are the eyes – especially the eyebrows – and the mouth.
The idea is to redesign these areas with the addition of pigments in order to restructure the face, brighten and beautify it, as a very subtle and natural makeup would.
- Dermopigmentation of eyebrows and eyes
The eyebrows are a key area of the face: they bring character and structure to it while highlighting our eyes. Especially since full and natural eyebrows are the order of the day. However, perfect eyebrows are not given to everyone! They may have been over-plucked in the past, the hair may be sparse, their color too light, the hair very thin, etc. Their shape can also make you look sad or tired.
In order to intensify and rejuvenate your look thanks to harmonious eyebrows, dermopigmentation is a very interesting long-lasting solution, especially if your eyebrows are sparse or asymmetrical. It also avoids having to apply makeup every day.
Depending on your hair and your needs, several methods can be used: either you opt for the filling technique (as you would with an eyebrow pencil), or you opt for the hair-by-hair technique where you simply reproduce the shape of an eyebrow hair on the area. Sometimes you can combine the two.
Contrary to what you may read, there is no best solution: the use of one or the other depends on the base eyebrow. The objective is always to achieve a natural look that evolves harmoniously with time and goes through the effects of fashion. Indeed, it is not a question of following a trend (!) but of highlighting your face. Facial dermopigmentation is therefore a custom-made beauty technique.
It is also possible to enhance the eyes by applying pigmentation to the lash line or eyeliner. Here too, naturalness is the key: the aim is to give the illusion of thicker lashes that enhance the eyes, and not to draw a makeup-type eyeliner line.
- Dermopigmentation of the lips
Dermopigmentation of the mouth can correct small imperfections in this area and beautify the lips without the need for makeup, or if you do not wish to use hyaluronic acid injections (although these two techniques can be perfectly combined!). It allows to remedy :
- Lips that are too thin
- A lip contour that lacks definition
- Asymmetrical lips (upper lip, lower lip)
- Lips that are too light in color, bland
Thus the dermopigmentation of the lips allows :
- To increase the volume of the lips in trompe l’oeil
- Redraw the lip contour
- Restructuring lips
- Restore color to the lips in a very natural way
HOW ARE THE PIGMENTS CHOSEN?
The quality and safety of the pigments used for a dermopigmentation session is essential. The practitioners at Dr. HAVET’s office use medical quality pigments adapted to this technique, which reduce the risk of allergic reaction but also guarantee a harmonious evolution, and which do not turn.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEDICAL DERMOPIGMENTATION AND TATTOOING?
Both techniques consist in placing a pigment under the skin to color it. The difference lies in the nature of the pigment and the depth at which it is placed under the skin.
Tattoo pigments contain heavy metals, are not sterile and are not single use because they are sold in large containers. Tattoo pigments are placed deeper and should last a lifetime.
Dermopigmentation pigments come in the form of a liquid solution or colored powders for single use, of mineral or organic origin, non-allergenic and specifically designed for this technique. They are placed more superficially and fade over time.
The pigments used in Dr. HAVET’s office are in accordance with CE standards guaranteeing high quality pigments.
I AM AFRAID THAT THE PIGMENT WILL TURN, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
A pigment that fades is a pigment that has been poorly chosen and a technique that is poorly mastered.
The choice to perform your facial dermopigmentation in a medical office, practiced by a trained dermographer, with high quality pigments and standards, guarantees you a pigmentation with a harmonious shape, a natural result and which does not turn.
HOW LONG DOES A DERMOPIGMENTATION PROCEDURE LAST?
Depending on the type of pigment used (mineral or organic), the pigmentation will last more or less time. Between 1 and 4 years. In all cases, the design will gradually fade. Touch-ups are therefore necessary if you want to keep the benefits.
It is also for this reason that it is essential that the design be done in harmony with the face – whether it is for the eyebrows, lips or eyes – and not according to a trend or fashion.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A DERMOPIGMENTATION SESSION AT DR HAVET’S OFFICE?
Before proceeding with the micropigmentation, we will perform a simulation with makeup. This allows us to get an idea, both for the shape and the shade, in order to obtain a very natural result.
The area will then be carefully cleaned and disinfected. A local anesthesia is performed upon request. Equipped with gloves and a protective mask, the practitioner can then proceed to the pigmentation via a small electric stylet, equipped with one or more single-use and sterile needles. The choice of needle size depends on the area and the thickness of the lines.
A session lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. A second session should be done between 3 weeks and one month later to consolidate the result.
DERMOPIGMENTATION : WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES ?
The after-effects are very simple: light crusts will appear on the treated area. It will be advisable to moisturize it continuously with a healing cream.
Beware of the sun! Prolonged direct sun exposure is not recommended for at least 1 to 2 months. If you are exposed to the sun, the face area must be protected with an SPF50 sun cream and a hat.
Water should be avoided for 10 to 15 days on the area, whether it is during a shower, a bath, a sauna/hammam, etc.
DOES DERMOPIGMENTATION HURT?
Not at all, thanks to a simple local anesthetic.
We know that some areas are sensitive and permanent makeup has the reputation of being painful. But this is without counting on the contribution of local anesthetics by injection (much stronger than the cream); it is all the interest to carry out the technique in a medical cabinet! Of course the technique causes tingling or a scratching sensation, but with medical anesthesia there is ZERO pain. This allows you to carry out the treatment in complete serenity and to take your time!
