AESTHETIC TREATMENTS OF THE SILHOUETTE

The effects of aging and time affect our body and our skin. Their repercussions can be seen on the face but also on our silhouette.

Like facial skin aging, the effects of aging on the body vary from person to person and depend on both internal factors, including genetics, and lifestyle.

Although inescapable, knowing the causes of body aging allows us to act more concretely on its effects in order to slow them down and rejuvenate our figure, whether we are a man or a woman.

Numerous non-surgical aesthetic medicine treatments allow you to reshape your figure à la carte, without pain or effort. Thanks to the new generation of body contouring or body shaping techniques, it is possible to treat localized fatty deposits, to intensely tone up and to fight against skin slackening for a harmonious and toned figure.

HOW DOES THE AGING OF THE SILHOUETTE MANIFEST ITSELF?

Médecine esthétique du corps à Saint-Martin / Guadeloupe / Saint-Barth - Dr Havet

The main changes related to aging are observed on the silhouette and on the muscles and skin.

Overall, the figure tends to become tighter and more slender.  This is because the discs between the vertebrae of the spine begin to dehydrate and lose thickness. This is one of the reasons why our height decreases!

The volume of muscles decreases and this mass tends to be replaced by fat cells. Certain areas, such as the buttocks, are particularly affected.

As we age, our body becomes more and more lazy. Fibroblasts, the support cells of our skin, produce less and less collagen. The production of elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid also decreases. The skin becomes drier, rougher and thus progressively loses its elasticity, suppleness and youthfulness: the skin on the thighs and arms, but also on the stomach, sags and stretches.

This is also the case for the neck, a very fragile area where horizontal wrinkles and platysmal cords (or dewlaps) can be found, but also fat pads (double chin), and which tends to slacken with age and weight.

Heliodermia also affects the body, as sun exposure causes premature aging of the skin and the appearance of spots, dilated vessels and redness, wrinkles and fine lines, and even skin lesions. This is especially true for particularly exposed areas such as the neckline, neck, forearms and hands.

The intimate area can be affected by the aging of the skin and the body: women can indeed be bothered by atrophied labia majora or vaginal dryness, especially during the menopause because of the many hormonal variations that it brings.

OTHER PROBLEMS OF THE SILHOUETTE

Apart from skin aging, our body can present some small imperfections, and in particular :

  • Localized fatty deposits: these areas that are resistant to dieting and exercise can be very difficult to deal with. In women, they are most often found on the thighs, buttocks, knees, but also in the saddlebags and stomach. For men, the bulges are more likely to appear on the abdomen and hips (love handles).
  • Cellulite: when fat cells are engorged, they create small hollows on the surface of the skin. This is the orange peel skin. This phenomenon has several causes, often a bad circulation and genetics, as well as being overweight, but not always! It affects women in the vast majority.

Excessive sweating: hypersweating causes discomfort and can be very disabling in everyday and socio-professional situations.

SAGGING BODY SKIN AND ITS TREATMENT

Our body’s skin does not escape from the cutaneous aging and the external aggressions that accelerate it. The skin on the neck and cleavage is particularly fragile and wrinkles. As for the rest of the body, the skin becomes rougher and especially slackens on the arms, thighs and stomach.

INTIMATE REJUVENATION

With age, following pregnancies, at the time of menopause, the tissues of the intimate area in women can lose their pulpiness and atrophy. The mucous membranes can also be subject to a more or less pronounced vaginal dryness that can hinder daily life and intimate relations, and cause some discomfort (discomfort, irritation, pain, infections).

REJUVENATE YOUR NECK, CLEAVAGE AND HANDS

Very often, when we think of carrying out anti-aging treatments, we target the face (wrinkles, spots, sagging skin)(). However, the neck, décolleté and hands often betray age and are also victims of skin aging, in addition to being in the front row regarding external aggressions, especially UV rays, which are very powerful in the Caribbean.
