WHAT IS AESTHETIC MEDICINE?

This touches the heart of the discipline, which is why I find this profession so fascinating!

I will share with you the different concepts that I teach to students at the faculty.

First of all the “positive ageing” and the “French Touch”

Much more than wanting to rejuvenate the faces, we speak of “positive ageing” that is to say the fact of accompanying the harmonious aging of the face. The objective is no longer to rejuvenate in the literal sense but much more to optimize and potentiate the natural face.

To do this, we treat what are called negative emotional attributes. The art of aesthetic medicine lies more in the correction of negative emotions reflected by a face (severity, fatigue, sadness, relaxation) than in the treatment of wrinkles.

In the same way it is possible to reinforce the positive elements of the face (beauty, youth, finer face, more masculine or more feminine).

The analysis and decoding of facial signals makes it possible to propose the best treatment plan for a natural and elegant result. Because we have never been so close to the natural than by respecting the harmonious aging of the face. French doctors are also experts in this field, and this is where the concept of “French touch” comes from: as close as possible to the natural. A naturalness that has often been contrasted with the faces of Hollywood actors and actresses, whose faces seemed more fixed, swollen…less natural!

Face analysis

The evolution of aesthetic medicine and injection techniques is recent. I had the chance to discover the specialty when this revolution took place.

Phase 1: Indeed we are able to decipher the face and translate it into what are called MD codes, these are key anatomical landmarks representing injection sites. A real mapping of the face.By injecting these precise points, it is possible to restore the anatomical structure close to before the marks of aging. We lift sagging, blur wrinkles and guide aging in a harmonious way.

Phase 2: Phase 2 of the injection techniques was marked by the study of facial muscle dynamics. The face has 43 muscles capable of producing 10,000 expressions! We have noticed that muscle balance has a huge influence on the aging of the face. The balance between the lifting and lowering muscles of the face must be maintained. If a muscle becomes dominant over its antagonist, it leads to an imbalance in muscle balance and anarchic aging of the face. It is possible to influence the muscular balances by reinforcing or repressing the muscular activities by the injections. This is called myomodulation.Myomodulation regulates facial muscle balance. Always to allow the harmonious aging of the face: “positive ageing” in statics and therefore also in dynamics.Nowadays, we are entering phase 3: prevention

The results are so positive that research tends to want to take care of faces earlier to accompany them in age. The detection of areas of anatomical weakness of the face where strong and pejorative signs of old age will crystallize will allow their early management and thus direct towards harmonious aging of the face.

“Positive ageing” care will therefore take place at a younger age, before the negative signs of time appear. We will follow, detect, orient, correct the anatomical structures of bone, fat, muscle and skin. Treatment that had been curative until then became preventive.

This anticipation and this advance over time is the future of aesthetic medicine!I would like to conclude this paragraph, which is very personal to me, with a sentence that has accompanied me throughout the learning of my specialty:

“Young beautiful woman is a miracle of nature. Older beautiful woman is a work of art »

A beautiful young woman is a miracle of nature. A beautiful older woman is a work of art.

This sentence perfectly sums up my vision of aesthetic medicine. Life is what it gives us, and what we do with it. I find it very pleasant to be an actor in the evolution of our body, and not simply to suffer the effects of aging. Science and technology are wonderful tools that allow us to understand, prevent, improve and correct.

The objective is always to potentiate individuals, to match the exterior with the interior.
