SAGGING SKIN ON THE FACE: TREATMENTS
Sagging skin is one of the characteristics of aging skin. It modifies the volumes of the face and gives a sad and aged look. It leads to the appearance of folds at the bottom of the face, accentuated by the loss of fatty tissue.
Thus, treating sagging skin is one of the objectives of aesthetic medicine. Thanks to non-invasive, painless techniques and simple after-effects, it is possible to tone and tighten the skin, to improve its quality, to find a more harmonious and rejuvenated face, but always with a natural look.
WHY IS MY SKIN LOSING ITS TONE?
With time, the skin’s support cells that give the skin its suppleness, elasticity and density (elastin and collagen fibers) become thinner. Thus the skin is thinner and less toned. Tissue ptosis is therefore a phenomenon related to the natural aging of the skin, but external factors also accentuate the sagging of facial tissues: pollution, stress, diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of sleep, and of course sun exposure. Purely genetic factors also come into play, such as having naturally thin and fragile skin.
If we add to this the loss of underlying muscle and fat volumes, we gradually observe an overall sagging of the facial features and hollows or folds that appear: the nasolabial folds become marked, jowls may appear at the oval of the face, the corners of the mouth point downward. The tail of the eyebrow also tends to sag. The neck seems less firm, the neckline too.
RADIOFREQUENCY AGAINST SAGGING FACIAL TISSUE
Radiofrequency is a non-surgical treatment indicated for sagging facial skin. Thanks to radiofrequency waves, the skin is heated in depth to cause both a retraction of collagen fibers (hence the tightening effect) and a neocollagenesis, i.e. the creation of new collagen fibers (hence the improvement of skin quality).
The treatment is painless, and after a few sessions of radiofrequency of the face, the skin is denser, more toned, as if lifted.
TARGETED HYALURONIC ACID INJECTIONS
The slackening of the skin on the face leads to the appearance of folds (or wrinkles). The loss of fatty tissue accentuates the phenomenon and the face becomes hollow in places, the volume changes.
The secret of a good use of hyaluronic acid is not necessarily to fill a wrinkle, because a wrinkle can be the result of a loss of volume located higher up, hence the interest in treating the face of a patient as a whole. Because everything is linked!
For example, a nasolabial fold is more visible if the cheekbone has sagged due to the melting of fatty tissue and the valley of tears has also deepened. If the oval of the face is less clear, hyaluronic acid injections can also be used to redefine the mandibular line.
Thus, the use of hyaluronic acid injections, in addition to moisturizing and improving the quality of the skin, makes it possible to obtain a lifting effect by restoring lost volumes.
RESORBABLE TENSOR THREADS
Also known as tissue inducers, the latest generation of tensor threads can really tighten the skin of the face – especially the oval of the face – and perform a mini facelift. As a bonus, their subcutaneous action stimulates fibroblasts and collagen fibers: the skin becomes denser over time.
PREVENT SKIN SLACKENING
The above treatments effectively and specifically address age-related skin ptosis. Nevertheless, when it comes to youthful skin, prevention is essential. A well hydrated and nourished skin, protected from UV rays (imperative when living in the Caribbean), is a skin that ages better and stays beautiful longer.
Thus, other medical aesthetic techniques, adapted to all skin types, allow us to fight against the signs of aging and therefore sagging.
- The Skinbooster
It is the latest hyaluronic acid, halfway between mesotherapy and filling, without adding volume but with a real benefit on the quality of the skin. It visibly plumps and brightens the skin. Due to its composition and texture, but also the way it is injected, this skin booster deeply and durably smoothes and rehydrates the skin. Ideal for the face and décolleté, but also for the hands.
- Medical peels
By eliminating dead cells that dull the complexion and clog pores, and especially by stimulating cell renewal of the stratum corneum (epidermis), and therefore the production of elastin and collagen, peels actively participate in the prevention of skin aging, and therefore skin slackening.
- Mesotherapy of the face
Revitalizing mesotherapy is part of the anti-aging program, even before age 30. It simply nourishes the skin directly from the inside by administering a cocktail of vitamins, anti-oxidants, minerals and very fluid hyaluronic acid to boost its radiance and beauty. Combined with a peeling and medical LED session to regenerate and stimulate the skin cells, this is the preventive anti-aging protocol par excellence.
