HYALURONIC ACID INJECTIONS (FILLERS)
Hyaluronic acid is the reference product for facial rejuvenation.
Its high water-holding capacity allows it to restore lost volume and smooth out wrinkles and furrows, while hydrating and plumping the skin.
If performed properly, hyaluronic acid injections provide amazingly natural results, without ever altering your facial expressions or your charm. This technique of aesthetic medicine without surgery beautifies and rejuvenates you, naturally.
WHAT IS THE MODE OF ACTION OF HYALURONIC ACID?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of our skin: it gives it a plump appearance and ensures its maintenance. But it tends to decrease with age, just like collagen and elastin.
Thus, the volumes of the face change at the same time as the subcutaneous fat melts due to skin aging.
In aesthetic medicine, hyaluronic acid is a transparent gel that, when injected into the skin, fills in and visibly reduces the hollows and furrows (wrinkles) and the slackening due to skin aging. Its strong hydrating power revitalizes and plumps up the skin.
Hyaluronic acid, by capturing water, allows the skin to be plumped and tightened, with a lifting effect.
By restructuring the volumes of the face, it gives it a new architecture closer to that of a young face…but still natural!
THE ART OF HYALURONIC ACID INJECTIONS
The art of hyaluronic acid injections lies in the fact that they beautify and enhance a face by :
- Correcting the negative emotions it reflects,
- Reinforcing the positive elements already present,
- Preventing aging by detecting areas of weakness in the face
Achieving this with a natural result requires a precise analysis of the patient’s face, thanks to the MD Codes technique, which are key anatomical landmarks representing injection sites on the face.
By working in this way, Doctor HAVET ensures that :
- The purity of your facial contours
- The harmony of proportions
- Balance and symmetry of the face
- The erasure of shadow areas and negative emotions
- Maintain a light and above all natural mobility of the face
The treatment of the patient’s face, whether male or female, is therefore comprehensive and tailor-made.
Hyaluronic acid injections are a way to accompany you through your age, whatever it may be: the idea is always that the image we reflect corresponds to our inner well-being.
WHAT ARE THE INDICATIONS FOR HYALURONIC ACID INJECTIONS?
There are several types of hyaluronic acid, which differ according to their thickness, their fluidity and their volumizing effect, called “cross-linking”. Depending on the degree of cross-linking of the hyaluronic acid, it will be more suitable for this or that result and for this or that area, but also according to the type of wrinkle: superficial, deep, fine, wide, scarred, static, dynamic.
Hyaluronic acid is therefore used to reshape or restore the volumes of the following areas of the face:
- Temples
- Cheekbones
- Dark circles
- Valley of tears
- Nasolabial folds
- Folds of bitterness
- Oval of the face, jaw (masculinization of the face in men in particular)
- Lips, perioral wrinkles (sun crease)
- Nose (medical rhinoplasty)
- Forehead wrinkles that have become deep and permanent and that botox cannot smooth out
Hyaluronic acid can also be used to restructure a face in profile (medical profiloplasty) in order to harmonize it by injecting the forehead and nose, taking into account the lips and chin.
HOW IS A HYALURONIC ACID INJECTION SESSION PERFORMED?
At the beginning of the session or during the consultation, an information sheet will be given to you. An estimate and a consent form will be signed. Doctor HAVET will perform a technical and precise medical examination of your face and will propose a personalized treatment plan.
The session takes place in the office and no special preparation is necessary. The injection is done after make-up removal and careful disinfection of your skin.
Depending on the area being treated, the doctor will use the needle or work with a cannula: a flexible needle with a round, foamy tip that only requires a small opening to penetrate the area to be injected. The needles used are very fine and the hyaluronic acid is coupled with a local anesthetic in the syringe making the act almost painless.
An anesthetic cream can be applied before the session for the most sensitive patients.
WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF A HYALURONIC ACID INJECTION?
The aftermath is very simple and does not require social eviction or time off work. The results are immediate and are fixed within 48 hours.
Locally, there may be some redness or bruising, which easily disappears in a few days. As hyaluronic acid captures water, it is common to observe a slight swelling in the hours that follow. It will disappear by itself the next day or two.
Intense sports, intense sun exposure and intense heat should be avoided for the first 2-3 days.
WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS TO HYALURONIC ACID INJECTIONS?
They are rare and will be looked for by Doctor HAVET during the consultation to ensure a safe treatment.
In general, the contraindications are the following:
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Autoimmune diseases
- Allergy to lidocaine (local anesthetic present in the product)
- Previous injection of non-absorbable products (risk of secondary granuloma, inform your doctor)
- Herpes labialis (risk of reactivation, possibility of taking an acyclovir-based prophylaxis before the procedure, inform your doctor)
It is advisable to avoid taking anticoagulants, aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs in the days before and after the injection because they increase the risk of bruising. A preventive homeopathic treatment (Arnica) may be recommended if you tend to bruise easily.
CAN I RESUME MY ACTIVITIES AFTER THE INJECTION?
Yes, the injection of hyaluronic acid does not lead to social eviction and does not require time off work. The aftermath is simple and the patient can resume normal activity immediately.
HYALURONIC ACID INJECTION: IS IT PAINFUL?
Virtually painless! The use of extremely fine needles, the presence of local anesthetic mixed with the product and the possible associated skin anesthesia make the procedure painless.
HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS OF HYALURONIC ACID LAST?
This depends on the product (and its cross-linking) and the quantity injected. Other factors come into play such as the patient’s age, the area treated, the quality of the skin, the patient’s lifestyle and state of health. On average, hyaluronic acid lasts for one year, more for volumizing products inserted deep into the skin, less for fluid products such as for the lip.
